Evan H. Farr, CELA, CEA

Evan Farr has been in private practice in Fairfax since 1987.  As the only attorney in Virginia who is both a Certified Elder Law Attorney and a Certified Estate Advisor, Evan Farr is widely recognized as one of the leading Elder Law and Estate Planning attorneys in Virginia. Since 2007, Evan has been named by Virginia Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the top attorneys in Virginia, and in 2008 Evan was named by Washington, DC Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the top attorneys in DC.  The Super Lawyers designation is bestowed upon the top 5% of lawyers in each state as chosen by their peers and through the independent research of Law & Politics.

To stay abreast of new and ever-changing laws, and to continually hone and enhance his legal knowledge, Evan Farr attends an average of more than 18 hours per year of Continuing Legal Education classes, which is more than one and half times the state requirement.

In addition to currently serving as Co-Chair of the Fairfax Bar Association's Wills, Trusts & Estates Section, Evan has served in numerous other leadership positions within the FBA, including Chair of the Election Committee, Chair of the Long Range Planning Committee, and Chair of the Law Practice Management Section.

In his personal life, Evan is very active in his church and in Scouting.  At Fairfax United Methodist Church, Evan serves as a Trustee and as Chair of the Memorials Committee.  In Scouting, Evan serves as a Den Leader and as Membership Chair for his son's Cub Scout pack and as the Webelos-to-Scout Transition Chair for the George Mason District and Sully District.  A Northern Virginia native, Evan grew up in Arlington and settled in Fairfax after law school.  He lives in Clifton with his wife, their son, and his wife's parents.

 Dean Anderson

Dean Anderson, JD

Dean Anderson is in charge of trust and estate administration for the Farr Law Firm.  A Princeton graduate, Dean received his law degree with honors in 2006 from George Mason University Law School.  At George Mason, Dean was a student attorney in the pro bono legal clinic and a research editor of the Civil Rights Law Journal.  Dean brings many years of legal experience to the Farr Law Firm, having been a litigation support specialist and a paralegal with a large DC law firm for 19 years prior to becoming an attorney.

April Blum

April G. Blum, Paralegal, Estate Planning Specialist. 

As a"military brat" April has traveled widely and has lived in France, Indianapolis, upstate New York, Seattle, and on Midway Island in the Pacific, as well as Portsmouth, Norfolk, and Fairfax, Virginia. April received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alaska while working as a paralegal in Anchorage, and has been working in the legal profession since 1975. April sings classical music with the Fairfax Choral Society and not-so-classical music with the Capricchio Catch Club at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. She is currently secretary of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington -- having previously been Newsletter Editor. She is an indefatigable contra dancer and tries to attend dance weekends once a month. April is also an experienced costume designer and seamstress.

 

Karen Simpson, Paralegal, Asset Protection Specialist

Karen was born in Washington, DC and has lived in Maryland and Virginia all of her life.  She has worked as a bookkeeper since 1984. Previously she worked for a general contractor and then a criminal defense/traffic attorney.  She has taken accounting, psychology, logic and Spanish classes at Northern Virginia Community College.  Karen has 4 children and 4 grandchildren, all of whom live in the Northern Virginia area.  She belongs to a quilting bee which meets twice a month, and spends her free time quilting and gardening and playing with her grandchildren.
